A Longest Table Feast with Friends
When she was 16-years-old, Michelle Hamilton watched her loving nana lose her battle with cancer. That moment changed her life, and is the reason she is so passionate about seeing an end to cancer through The Longest Table.
“My nana was such a strong, proud lady who slowly and painfully slipped away. I remember her feet always moving in her bed, this was her way of dealing with the pain. I became a nurse to help people like my nana and my motto is always treat and care for each person as if they are your nana,” Michelle said.
Now Michelle is ready to fight back against cancer for her nana and so many others who have been devastated by a cancer diagnosis.
“I cannot cure cancer but by hosting this dinner I can help people who can, the researchers and scientists.”
Michelle is hosting her forking awesome Longest Table dinner on July 14th in her own home with 50 of her friends and colleagues.
“My dinner includes a four-course meal with wine and beer. Nicole from The Olive Brunch in Balhannah is catering, whilst wine and beer was kindly donated to me by Bird in Hard winery, Simon Tolley wines, Left Barrel Brewery and Mismatched Brewery. I also have trestle table and chairs donated by By the Oaktree.
“During the evening I am having a silent auction, some wine tasting competitions and raffles. I have been driving around the Adelaide Hills asking local businesses which I love for donations for the auction – I have been seen to do a happy dance with some of the donations!
“Organising The Longest Table has shown me people can be so generous!”
