Crafting for a Cancer Cure
For Kerry Mccue, the reason behind hosting a Longest Table was in honour of loved ones who have succumbed to this this heartbreaking disease, and those currently fighting it.
“My brother was the first to be affected by cancer in my family, 40 years ago he was diagnosed with testicular cancer which secondaries on his lungs,” Kerry said.
“Back then his chemotherapy was experimental, but we are so lucky he pulled through. Unfortunately, his son was diagnosed the same cancer which has spread further so he’s currently fighting it at present.
“In the last 10 years we have also lost two very good friends and one of our Longest Table group members has terminal cancer.”
With loved ones in mind, Kerry hosted her event on Monday 14 June at her scrapbooking and craft store, raising over $1,700 towards cancer research!
“I invited a group of my regular crafters to have a scrapbooking day and we had raffles, lucky dips, mystery parcels and an auction which was all a great success,” Kerry said.
“Our lunch was supplied by the local bakery next door which was delicious!”
Like Kerry, you can host your own Longest Table to raise funds for those currently fighting this horrible disease, and those who have lost their lives.
