Host Hero Back to #forkcancer for a Sixth year!

Passionate Host Hero Julia Strawbridge is back for her sixth year hosting a Longest Table!

Julia’s success last year saw her raise an incredible $3,400 towards cancer research and she has held the prize of Best TLT Costumes Golden Fork award two years in a row, for her Great Gatsby theme in 2018 and her Tim Burton’s Night before Christmas theme in 2017.

This year, Julia is hosting her event on the official night and is organising a Heroes and Villains night where guests are requested to dress to the theme.

“It’s not a requirement for people to dress up but if they don’t there is an additional surcharge of $10 that will go towards The Longest Table,” Julia said.

To keep the crowd entertained, Julia is organising raffles and silent auctions, a quiz based around the theme of the night, a photo wall and a best dressed prize.

Local businesses in the community are donating prizes and this year, Fasta Pasta at Blakeview are supporting Julia’s event with the catering.

“We rely on generous donations from local businesses to enable us to raise even more funds each year.”

Julia’s motivation each year to host a Longest Table is personal; her husband’s family has a strong history of this heartbreaking disease.

“Having a strong familial history of cancer on my husband’s side, I host a Longest Table so hopefully one day we live in a cancer free world so my children and grandchildren could be free from worrying about this disease,” Julia said.

“As a nurse, it would mean not having to watch and support patients and their families during diagnosis, treatment and the outcomes of cancer.”

“Having hosted a table for six of the last seven years, it has become an integral event shared with family and friends to support this great cause.”
