Rock ‘n Rolling for cancer research
This will be the fifth-year cancer survivor Barbara DeAngelis (pictured centre) will be hosting a Longest Table to raise funds for a disease she personally fought against.
“Having had breast cancer I could see there was such a need for research to be continued into this disease, which is why I continue signing up to The Longest Table each year,” Barbara said.
Barbara is hosting a Rock ‘n Roll themed gala night on Saturday 11 September which includes a four-course meal, a Rock ‘n Roll band and themed dancers and even a motorbike with a couple dressed from that era, a great photo opportunity for guests to enjoy!
“It’s of course going to be a dress-up with a prize for best dressed and I will be raising funds on the night in a few different ways for guests to get involved, including a raffle, wine wall, lucky numbers game, silent auction and a money spinner,” Barbara said.
An expert host, Barbara has kindly shared a few tips for other hosts when planning their own event.
“Enjoy the planning and try not to get too stressed or overwhelmed. Relax and enjoy your event and organise things as early as you can; get your invitations our early and get onto your sponsors and donations asap!”
Barbara knows the importance of raising funds for cancer research and hopes that one day her loved ones won’t have to endure a cancer diagnosis like her.
“A world free of cancer would mean that my children and grandchildren wouldn’t have to worry about getting this disease, which also applies to everyone!”
