Work Friends Unite to Fork Cancer

The team at Colorectal Surgery in North Adelaide are ready to #forkcancer!

It was a joint effort for the team, led by employee Amanda Summers who hosted a night filled with food, fun, friendship and fundraising.

In total, the team raised an incredible $5,600 towards lifesaving cancer research!

Unfortunately, working at Colorectal Surgery, Amanda and the team see firsthand the impact bowel cancer and other cancers have on patients and their families, which motivated them to host a Longest Table.

“Everyone wanted to participate in this event as we see the major impact on the lives of our patients devastated by bowel cancer as well as their families,” Amanda said.

Amanda hosted the night at her own home on Friday 22 June with around 30 people in attendance.

“I set the night as a fine dining experience and we enjoyed a three-course sit down meal. My caterers and waiters were all friends that donated their time and skills to provide an amazing dinner and service for all guests,” Amanda said.

“The incredible flower arrangements were donated by a local florist and it set the scene beautifully for a wonderful night. We were overwhelmed with local businesses generosity and had some amazing goods donated for the night”

Kick-starting the donations, Amanda organised a silent auction with around 20 donated items, as well as raffle and games, including a wine lucky dip and a ‘lucky seat’ prize.

“Overall, it was a fun night and everyone generously donated to a cause that will help researchers one day develop lifesaving treatments for. It would be wonderful to not see family, friends, our patients and their families struggle and battle cancer.”
