I'm helping to #ForkCancer by hosting a Longest Table!

We're back!

This August we're hosting a Longest Table to raise money for cancer research. 

Cancer has affected everyone in some way. Most of you are well aware but for those who don't know, I want to share how cancer has affected my life, so that you understand how much this charity night means to me.

In October of 2018 my partner was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. This is a type of blood cancer that progresses rapidly and requires urgent treatment.

In his early twenties, he had his whole life ahead of him and was very healthy. Anyone who knew him would tell you just how ambitious and driven for life he was. 

He fought the most cruel and unfair fight.

Over 5 months Reece endured chemotherapy, radiation and targeted therapy, ICU, an induced coma, lumbar punctures, hemodialysis, hundreds of blood counts, and bone marrow biopsies. 

Nothing saved him and we lost him in January of 2019. 

I truly believe that if there was a cure, he would have knocked his diagnosis out of the park.

This has been the most difficult time of my life so I want to share my story to help other people going through a similar experience and to take away some of the stigma around cancer. 

I feel that I owe it to speak up about cancer and the way it affects so many of us. In a perfect world, no one would lose their battle.
