A Mother’s Mission: Hosting for a Cancer-Free Future for Her Boys

For the past eight years, Rebecca has been setting the table, inviting friends and family, and raising crucial funds for cancer research. But for her, this isn’t just about a meal—it’s about fighting for a future free from cancer for her two young boys.

“Cancer scares me, and I’m frightened of who’s next. I just hope my boys don’t have that fear when they grow up," says Rebecca.

With cancer touching so many loved ones around her—family members, close friends, and in-laws—Rebecca knew she had to do something. When she discovered
The Longest Table, she saw the perfect opportunity to make a difference.

What started as a small gathering of girlfriends has grown into an annual event Rebecca’s community looks forward to. And she’s not afraid to get creative!

Theme nights have become a highlight, with last year’s '80s party' taking the cake. The costumes were next-level, with someone even arriving in a vintage wedding gown from the 80s. The laughter, the generosity, and the spirit of giving made it a night to remember.

But for Rebecca, it’s not just about the fun—it’s about seeing real impact.

“I love knowing where the money is going and that it’s making a difference.”

Whether
it’s a
small gathering of close friends or a big themed bash, Rebecca’s advice is simple: just start.

“You can do anything with The Longest Table—that’s what I love about it! Be as creative as you want or keep it really simple. Just have fun.”

And she’s already planning her next one!

Rebecca isn’t just hosting a dinner. She’s building a future where fewer families have to face the heartbreak of cancer.

By hosting a Longest Table this July or August you are setting the table for a brighter future, free from cancer.
